All legally qualified associations and foundations that are committed to the association's rules and for which fundraising is significant in terms of achieving the organization's goals can become members of VaLa ry. Finnish organizations can become members if they:- have been registered as associations or foundations for at least two years (or 2 financial years). - promote public benefit activities or objects. - engage in professional fundraising, and whose finances and fundraising are in good condition. - want to promote the transparency and reliability of fundraising.
The VaLa board decides on the acceptance of a member and the dismissal of a member. The activities of VaLa and its member organizations must be lawful and objective, and take into account respect, equality and non-discrimination towards the professional group, the work community, donors and beneficiaries. The organizations must take into account in their activities that they do not violate the constitutional rights of individuals or otherwise place people in an unequal position without an acceptable reason.
This is how you get involved:
- Fill out and send the form (membership application 2025) to the Secretary General of VaLa ry.
- Attach the financial statements, annual report, audit report, association or foundation register extract, rules, and information about responsible persons to the application.
The VaLa ry board processes membership applications and approves new member organizations. Membership is confirmed by paying a membership fee, which is determined based on annual income (membership fee classification 2025). As a member of VaLa, you can utilize a membership code in your communications, which is designed to unite members in the fundraising industry and strengthen the general public's image of member communities as organizations committed to responsible fundraising.
