According to the study, more than half of Finns have made a will or are considering making one. Nine percent of them would like to promote activities that are in line with their values by making a will with an organization or organizations as the beneficiary. With a will, you can systematically take care of people and things close to you. What do you care about? The most interesting areas for bequests are the treatment of diseases and health promotion (25%), the well-being of children and young people in Finland (23%) and nature conservation (21%). The well-being of the elderly in Finland (18%), science and education (17%) and animal welfare (17%) are also popular areas for bequests. (IRO Research Oy 2019)

It is also possible to bequeath your property to entities other than those included in the inheritance circle, such as non-profit organizations. Bequests are an important part of the financing of non-profit organizations. In Finland, their share varies annually from about 5 to 15 percent of the organizations' fundraising. Non-profit organizations do not have to pay inheritance tax on the inheritance they receive through a will. Even a small will matters. The Good Will campaign offers information and advice and shares stories about doing good.
